Michigan Man Found With Blunt-Force Trauma on Christmas Eve, Police Investigating Suspicious Death

Police are probing the “suspicious circumstances” surrounding the death of a Michigan man who was discovered unresponsive on Christmas Eve.

At approximately 7:39 p.m. on Tuesday, Madison Heights police and fire personnel arrived at the 26000 block of Dequindre, where they discovered the 60-year-old victim, later identified as Robert Cavanaugh, lying on the ground.

According to a news release, police discovered that Cavanaugh had sustained blunt-force trauma.

He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead. Police have arrested one suspect concerning Cavanaugh’s death.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and his family during this tragic time,” Madison Heights police said in a news statement.

The investigation is currently pending the medical examiner’s formal cause of death determination. The matter will be turned over to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office to determine charges.
