‘Murder, torture and child abuse’: California couple accused of killing 10-year-old adopted son

According to police, a couple in California is accused of beating, torturing, and killing their adoptive kid. The 10-year-old was taken to a hospital in medical distress before passing just a few hours later.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, Alejandra Marin, 51, and Juan Sanchez Moreno, 59, have been taken into custody on felony murder and torture charges, which include one count of deliberately causing or enabling injury to a child. After an investigation by the department’s Special Victims Unit and Central Homicide Unit, the pair was booked on Friday, Nov. 22.

According to an RCSO press statement, on November 21, officers were called to a residence in the 13000 block of Malibu Court, Moreno Valley, where a 10-year-old kid was experiencing medical discomfort. After locating the boy, authorities took him to a nearby hospital, where they stabilized him.

The juvenile’s condition deteriorated over the course of many hours, and the sheriff’s office said that he was declared dead at the hospital. The Riverside Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit was asked to respond and took over the investigation due to the circumstances.

Officers said the situation featured obvious evidence of abuse and neglect recorded by the Central Homicide Unit of the sheriff office and SVU. How the couple tormented the boy is unknown.

The adopted parents of the minor, Alejandra Marin, 51, and Juan Sanchez Moreno, 59, were detained for murder, torture, and child abuse as a result of the joint investigation, according to the sheriff’s office.

According to jail records, the pair was being held without bond at the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside on Sunday. While Moreno’s case files are still confidential, Marin is expected to appear in court on Tuesday.
