SECAUCUS, New Jer. (DDN) – On Wednesday morning, emergency crews tried to rescue a motorist who had been trapped inside a tractor-trailer that had flipped over on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Around 7:30 a.m., the truck collided near Exit 16E, which is the toll plaza on the eastern spur of the New Jersey Turnpike.
At least four lanes that are designated for the I-495/Lincoln Tunnel approach were obstructed by the collision.

Traffic was backed up all the way to Secaucus Junction due to delays that were building up along the eastern spur.
Drivers coming from the New Jersey Turnpike and going into New York City were instructed to take the George Washington Bridge. The Holland Tunnel is another option for getting into the city.
At one point, it took more than 60 minutes to drive from Routes 1 and 9 to the Holland Tunnel.
