Palm Coast Becomes 2nd Best Florida City To Move in 2024

Is Palm Coast a good city to move to in Florida? According to a recent report from USA Today, it is. Palm Coast was ranked as the second most desirable city to move to out of a list of 30 cities in Florida.

The list was published by Homefront, which is a partnership between USA Today and Home Solutions that requires payment. The analysis took into account various factors, including life expectancy, median income, average rent and home value, and unemployment rate. Although Palm Coast was considered one of the most desirable locations, it did have a higher cost of living compared to the surrounding cities on the list.

Here is the list of the top ten:

  • Gainesville
  • Palm Coast
  • Palm Bay
  • Fort Myers
  • Melbourne
  • Tampa
  • Daytona Beach
  • Tallahassee
  • Brandon
  • Cape Coral

“According to the study, Palm Coast is situated in Flagler County, which has the lowest climate risk score and the lowest expected annual property loss from climate events.” “The lower risk climate in Palm Coast helps keep homeowner insurance premiums relatively low for Florida, at $1,741 per year.” Palm Coast’s location near both Daytona Beach and St. Augustine was also seen as a positive aspect.

Despite these advantages, Palm Coast had the highest typical rent and the highest unemployment rate among the top five cities. In addition, it also has the second-highest median income and second-highest life expectancy among that group.

Furthermore, Palm Coast has a low crime rate, which is another advantage of the city. “According to the study, this city is considered one of the safest in our research. It has a low crime rate of only 10 crimes per 1,000 residents, which is much lower than the state average of 18.25 crimes per 1,000 residents.” The city hires the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office for its law enforcement services. In the past, there were discussions about creating a Palm Coast Police Department, but those discussions did not make much progress.

Daytona Beach was also in the area and it ranked seventh on the list. Daytona has a lower rent cost compared to Palm Coast, which is the lowest on the list. However, Daytona also has lower incomes and the same unemployment rate. This makes Daytona a very different place to live compared to its neighbor to the north. However, one of the advantages of Palm Coast was that it was close to Daytona.
