The neighborhoods of Greenville and Bergen-Lafayette are considered the most dangerous and worst in Jersey City for 2024, according to Saturday Night Science. Jersey City’s neighborhoods have many stereotypes associated with them. There are different types of neighborhoods, such as hipster areas, preppy places, neighborhoods where college kids thrive, and areas that are considered less safe. Jersey City has a neighborhood for everyone.
Jersey City is often considered one of the best places to live in New Jersey because it offers lots of entertainment and job opportunities. However, it’s not without its challenges. Certain neighborhoods are less safe than others. Which neighborhoods in Jersey City are the most dangerous and which are the safest?
Today, we’ll use Saturday Night Science to figure out which neighborhoods in Jersey City need some extra attention – the areas that stand out in a not-so-good way. It’s important to be realistic and understand that not all neighborhoods can be amazing. However, The Waterfront is definitely a standout compared to the others. We studied 11 neighborhoods in Jersey City to determine which ones are the most dangerous to live in. These places are not as good as Jersey City is known to be.

Methods to Find the Most Dangerous Jersey City Neighborhoods
In order to determine the quality of a place to live, we simply needed to identify the preferences of people and then determine which places have the fewest of those things. We used the following criteria in Saturday Night Science to determine the worst neighborhoods in Jersey City:
- High crime (Estimated)
- High unemployment (Less jobs)
- Low median income (Less pay)
- Low population density (No things to do)
- Low home values (No one’s willing to pay to live here)
Next, we evaluated and ranked each neighborhood in Jersey City, New Jersey based on these criteria, starting from the worst and ending with the best. Afterwards, we calculated the average rankings for each criterion to determine the “Worst Score.” The neighborhood with the lowest “Worst Score” is considered the most dangerous neighborhood in Jersey City.
