Wall Street Banker Arrested in New York City; Loses Job After Rape Charges are Pressed Reports

According to The Post, a Wall Street banker lost a job with a leading insurer after being charged with raping a 25-year-old woman in New York City last month.

According to corporate insiders, Mark Harris, a 38-year-old infrastructure and energy finance specialist, was scheduled to start a new job on April 7 with Global Atlantic Financial Group, which is owned by private equity firm KKR.

Harris signed the agreement to join the firm on March 4, just two days before his arrest on the allegations, which he has strongly disputed, according to Global Atlantic sources.

However, after The Post reported the accusations in Manhattan Criminal Court, the KKR-owned insurer and private credit provider withdrew the six-figure contract offer, according to Harris’ lawyer Jason Goldman.

“Mr. Harris has not been indicted on these outlandish and demonstrably false allegations,” Goldman said, noting that prosecutors haven’t yet laid out a case to a grand jury.

“It’s beyond unfortunate that someone of Mr. Harris’ character can even be arrested, subjected to recklessly sanctionable articles, and have his job rescinded based on a fictitious rape claim. We expect this matter to soon be dismissed,” the defense attorney added.

The Post originally reported that authorities accused the ex-Investec financier of raping the lady in her Midtown Manhattan apartment while allegedly calling her a “f-king bitch” and telling her that she “had this coming.”

According to New York prosecutors, Harris allegedly pulled the victim’s pants down before holding her down against a mattress and raping her.

According to a criminal complaint, the victim attempted to fight off the suspected sexual predator by repeatedly pleading with him to stop before kicking him off of her.

Harris, who denies the claims, posted a $150,000 bail bond when he first appeared in court on March 6 on two counts of rape and one of sexual abuse.

According to legal papers, he is scheduled to return to court on May 1 to face the charge brought by the New York County district attorney. The woman’s identity has not been disclosed.
