Charter Institute at Erskine Ranked No. 1 Small Company in South Carolina

The Charter Institute at Erskine (Institute) has been named the top small company in South Carolina by The South Carolina Top Workplaces. In addition, the Institute was recognized as a Top Workplace in South Carolina for the year 2024. The Institute is one of 76 organizations in South Carolina that has been recognized as a Top Workplace.

These awards were given based on feedback from employees. The feedback was collected through a survey conducted by Energage, LLC, a company that specializes in employee engagement technology. The confidential survey measures the employee experience and its different aspects, such as employees feeling respected and supported, having opportunities to grow, and being empowered to take action.

At the Institute, employees receive many benefits and work in a culture that values excellence and growth. Mr. Vamshi Rudrapati, the Institute’s Chief Operating Officer, says that one of their biggest achievements is the commitment to prioritizing work/life balance throughout the organization.

“I believe that the reason I was named a Top Workplace is because the Institute is dedicated to creating a culture of servant leadership, integrity, and respect,” said Superintendent Cameron Runyan. “When every person in a company believes in the same core values, it makes the company stronger and more united.” We owe our current position to a group of people who are committed and enthusiastic.

Other factors that contribute to the overall culture include a strong cultural foundation known as the “Erskine Philosophy,” regular performance reviews, and opportunities for internal professional development. One of these programs is called “The Breakfast Club.” It allows upcoming leaders in the organization to bond with each other, connect with senior leaders, go on trips, network with people outside the organization, and more. One person in the 2024 group is Ms. Kristy Cansler.

“I enjoy my job because it allows me to learn and develop both within my daily responsibilities and in other areas,” said Cansler, who is the Executive Director of Federal Programs (Finance). This quote was featured at the statewide Awards Ceremony. “I agree with the company’s vision because it matches my personal and professional values.” I really enjoy working with my coworkers and the strong relationships I have built with them.
