Following the Florida Supreme Court’s decisions to allow abortion to be voted on and to enact a ban on abortion supported by Senator Rick Scott, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell has started a statewide Florida Freedom Tour.
Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is traveling around the state to discuss the fight for freedom and to hold Republican Senator Rick Scott responsible for his strong and public support for Florida’s near-total abortion ban, which has very few exceptions for cases of rape or incest.

The Democratic candidate started her tour advocating for abortion rights in South Florida. The tour began with an event in West Palm Beach, where State Senator Lori Berman was present. She visited Miami and met with the UMiami Dems. They had a discussion with community leaders in Miami about supporting abortion rights in November. She organized a gathering in Pembroke Pines where she met with State Representative Marie Woodson and leaders from the Haitian-American community.
Debbie For Florida’s new digital ad, called “Banned,” highlights Senator Rick Scott’s strong support for Florida’s upcoming near-total abortion ban. This will be a major issue for Florida Republicans in the upcoming election.
“Floridians won’t just watch as Rick Scott, an extremist who is out of touch, attempts to strip away our democratic rights,” said Debbie Mucarsel-Powell. “The people in Florida are very passionate – they are uniting to oppose Rick Scott, who supports a national abortion ban and is a strong advocate for Florida’s near-total abortion ban.” We will keep holding Rick Scott responsible for his actions that threaten our rights. We will support the majority of Floridians who want to protect access to abortion. We will spread this message throughout Florida to win in November.
