Latest PA Forecast Predicts Inbound Thunderstorms Trigger Flood Warnings

Forecasters said that a springtime storm is expected to hit the Keystone State just before the weekend, bringing heavy rain, gusty winds, and the possibility of flooding.

The National Weather Service predicts that there will be a significant amount of rain from Thursday through Friday night. There will be moderate coastal flooding from Bucks to Delaware counties.

The weather service said that strong onshore winds will cause widespread coastal flooding during the high tide from Thursday night to Friday morning. “The areas in red are expected to experience the most significant impacts from flooding. Moderate coastal flooding is forecasted in these areas.”

As of 9:30 a.m., there is a coastal flood warning in effect until Friday morning for three counties in Pennsylvania. The counties that are impacted are:

Thursday Night: There will be showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 5 a.m., followed by likely showers. There is a possibility that some of the storms may bring heavy rain. The temperature will be around 57 degrees Fahrenheit. The wind will be breezy, coming from the south at around 20 mph. There may be gusts as high as 45 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. There may be between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain.

On Friday, there is a high chance of showers, and there might also be thunderstorms starting from 8 a.m. The weather will be cloudy in the morning, but it will gradually clear up later in the day. The temperature will reach a high of around 66 degrees. The wind will be breezy, coming from the southwest at around 20 mph, with gusts reaching up to 30 mph. The likelihood of rain is 60 percent. The expected rainfall will range from 0.1 to 0.25 inches, with the possibility of higher amounts during thunderstorms.
