Unfortunately, there are certain areas in the Evergreen State where a higher percentage of the population did not complete high school.
Although the importance of attending college may be exaggerated, the truth is that not completing high school puts you at a considerable disadvantage on average. Measuring a person’s intelligence solely based on their educational attainment may not be the most accurate method, but it does provide some insight into their level of education.

We will use Saturday Night Science to find out which areas in Washington have the highest proportion of adults who did not complete high school.
According to a study we recently published, Washington is ranked as the 7th smartest state in the United States. The average IQ in Washington is 101. However, this does not mean that some cities in Washington are slower than others because they lack basic education.
Don’t panic.
Some places are more intelligent than others, but that doesn’t say anything about the qualities of the people who live there. Here’s a piece of information that a real estate agent would typically not disclose.
For this ranking, we only considered cities in Washington with populations greater than 5,000. This left us with a total of 121 cities to rank. Please review the data provided below.

Method to Determine the Dumbest Cities in the Evergreen State
We understand that formal education is just one aspect of intelligence. However, being able to distinguish between they’re, their, and there is always important to avoid looking foolish.
So, we used Saturday Night Science to make our criteria more specific. We focused on a city’s educational opportunities and how many people in the population actually use those opportunities.
Simply put, we have developed these criteria to identify the least intelligent cities in Washington:
- % of the city’s population with less than a high school education (Age 25+)
- % of city’s population with a college degree (Age 25+)
Our algorithm assigns a rank to each place in these categories. After analyzing all the data, here is a ranking of the cities in Washington from least intelligent to most intelligent.
We considered all cities in Washington with a population of at least 5,000 for this ranking. We have revised this article for 2024, marking the tenth occasion on which we have ranked the least intelligent cities in Washington.
