The police left 206 East 31st Street on Friday evening, but there is still a mystery surrounding the suspicious death of the woman in Apartment 19A. It has been officially determined that her death was a homicide, causing fear among the residents.
“I have been here for 22 years. “We have never experienced a situation like this before,” stated Jean Pompee, the building superintendent.
Pompee, who has worked as a superintendent in the building for a long time, is shocked by the horrifying discovery of Nadia Vitel, a 52-year-old woman who was found dead in a duffel bag in a closet. Pompee believes there may have been a struggle in the apartment, as there was a smashed wall.

Pompee helped her son and other family members enter the apartment when they couldn’t get in touch with her. After they entered, they saw the duffel bag and immediately called the fire department.
“He showed them the closet because all the clothes had been pulled down.” He said there was a bag underneath it and asked if I could open it because he believed there was a body inside. Pompee said, “They did acknowledge that there was a problem and they called the police.” The Medical Examiner determined on Friday that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.

The story begins on Sunday when the superintendent mentions that cameras outside and inside the building recorded two suspicious men repeatedly entering and exiting the building on the 19th floor. It appears that they were waiting for the victim. The victim finally returned home on Wednesday, and cameras recorded her going up to her apartment, 18A.
After that, on Wednesday, the two men left for the final time. Cameras recorded them leaving the building and walking to Vitel’s car, which was parked on 31st Street. They got into the car and drove away.
Mariana Stojkovic lives nearby the place where the crime happened. She heard strange banging sounds coming from the trash chute. “I felt really sad when I heard the news yesterday. Nobody should die in such a way,” Stojkovic expressed.
Police worked throughout Thursday night and most of Friday searching through garbage and gathering surveillance footage. They have chosen not to make the footage public yet as they investigate a murder case in apartment 19A.
